The morning of Wednesday 11th September dawned fair after a cooler night than of late preceded by heavy rain on Tuesday evening. However, five members of the group met at The George, Brixworth, in bright sunshine - regulars Paul, Jim and Colin plus two new members John and James who we welcomed for their first ride with the group. We set off for the coffee shop at Mawsley village riding through Scaldwell and Old. We sat outside the cafe to take refreshments despite the cool breeze and occasional strong gusts. The return route, via Walgrave and Holcot, was completed along the south side of Pitsford reservoir arriving back at the George where a hot lunch awaited those who had booked. A total of 16 miles was covered with a height gain of 1230 ft (376 metres) at an average speed of 11.2 mph (17). A pleasant ride along mainly quiet Northamptonshire back roads.
