Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance to Host FREE CarKraft for Mature Drivers Event at Sedgebrook Hall 21 September
The Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance (NSRA) is delighted to introduce CarKraft for Mature Drivers as a regular part of our road safety programme.
For many of us, driving represents independence, freedom and the ability to stay connected with family, friends, and the local community. Our aim is to help drivers aged 60 and over remain confident, safe, and mobile for as long as possible.
As we gain experience behind the wheel, changes in eyesight, health, medication, and vehicle technology can sometimes affect the way we drive. Understanding these changes and adapting to them can help us continue to enjoy driving safely and confidently.
This friendly and informative event has been specifically designed for drivers aged 60+ and offers practical advice, reassurance, and the opportunity to refresh key driving skills in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Following a welcome and briefing, participants will take part in:

  • Safer Driving Workshop, led by experienced road safety professionals, covering:
    • Appropriate speed choice
    • Understanding road signs and markings
    • Roundabouts and complex junctions
    • Hazard perception and observation
    • Modern vehicle technology and driver assistance systems
    • Fitness to drive and future planning
    • Eyesight and driving
  • Assessed drive with a qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), providing constructive feedback and helpful driving tips.
  • There is also the opportunity to book a FREE "Hints and Tips" drive with Northampton Advanced Motorists.
  • Event Details
  • Monday 21st September 2026

RIVIERA TRAVEL - Charity Donation
If you are booking a holiday with Riviera Travel, mention Brixworth & District u3a when booking directly with them and we will receive a charitable donation. You need to telephone them rather than booking online

Click on Riviera Travel Charity Scheme for more information.

CAN YOU BE A GROUP LEADER OR GROUP FACILITATOR?
It’s really not an onerous job – especially if it is a small group which meets in members’ homes with no outside speakers to arrange or venues to book. Don’t forget, full support and guidance is given by the committee - many of whom are, or have been leaders of interest groups, so have plenty of experience to share.
So please have a think about volunteering – after all the u3a ethos is “by the members, for the members” – and it is not necessarily a solo role being a Group Leader – two or three members with a shared interest can set up a group, sharing responsibilities as appropriate.
