Brixworth & District

13th November 2024

It was a foggy start, visibility poor but no sign of frost, on my journey to the rendezvous point at The George, Brixworth. There six eager cyclists were meeting for a morning of leisurely cycling. As we set off (James, Jeff, Paul, Sylvia, Roger & Colin) the mist was finally clearing and by the time we reached the village of Old there was blue sky and the sun was already warming us. The roads were quiet as we progressed towards Mawsley. We headed for Loddington then on to Great Cransley and Broughton before making it to our coffee stop at Orlingbury. We left the café in bright sunshine with little breeze ideal conditions for cycling. We returned via Hannington, Walgrave and Scaldwell to The George, where four of us enjoyed a hot lunch. We covered around 24 miles at an average speed of 11.2 mph with an altitude gain of around 1750 feet. Thanks to Paul Honeywell for the group photo.
