After a period of extremely unsettled and wet weather, Wednesday 17th July dawned fair, warm and with little or no wind as forecast by the Met Office. Four of the group met at the George (Paul, Mick, Jeff and Colin) at 10:00 setting off for Brixworth reservoir and the clockwise route to the causeway a delightful ride in prefect conditions. Through Holcot to the Kettering road crossing into Sywell and the Aviator where we sat out drinking coffee watching various flying machines taking off and landing.
The ride continued to Little Harrowden, where we turned towards Orlingbury. From there we headed to Hannington crossing the Kettering Road, before joining the Pitsford Reservoir southern path from the Causeway beyond Holcot. We arrived back at the George for our booked lunch shortly after 13:00 having completed 22 miles and with an elevation gain of 1400 feet (400 metres) at an average speed of 11 miles per hour.
