Briarwood Gardens July 2025

A very large group of us from the u3a Gardening Club visited Briarwood Gardens belonging to Elaine and William Portche on 16th July.

We were amazed at the quirkiness of the whole garden. Various sculptures were situated around, some hidden, some comical.  You could walk up and down the garden several times and find something different each time. Hidden secluded seating areas added to the charm of the cottage garden. A very quaint cabin with table and chairs inside and out, was situated within the trees which provided a very relaxing area, good for bat watching during a warm summer’s evening. We were provided with tea and homemade cakes.

Wandering back up to the patio area, there was an abundance of colourful flowers and an impressive display of Elaine’s collection of succulents all around the garden. A lovely afternoon out had by all.
