Brixworth & District

16th October 2024

Whether the 16th October ride would go ahead was doubtful as we awoke to a dull and misty morning. However despite a puncture experienced by Colin enroute to the rendezvous point (The George at Brixworth), we finally set off with lights blazing as visibility was poor. It wasn`t raining but the low cloud was coalescing on tree branches and leaves and dripping as we cycled beneath them. The five of us (Jeff, Sylvia, James Jim and Colin) headed to Creaton then on to Thornby Hall for coffee, passing through Teeton and Guilsborough. We returned to Brixworth via Naseby, Hazelbech  and Cottesbrooke Although the weather was forecast to improve later the sun didn`t appear until late afternoon. An enjoyable ride, covering 19 miles, in good company, (altitude gain 1600 feet), despite the weather with three members of the group enjoying a welcome hot lunch at the George.
