This presentation given by Ray Bradfield on Thursday 7th November was inconclusive - in his own words most articles on the TV and in the news media are experts’ opinions and are not to be taken as scientific fact. Over the years we have been told by various eminent people that animal fat is bad for the human being, causing heart disease - which has now been changed to “sugar is bad for us”. Removing fat from food, for example yogurt, flavour is destroyed so it is necessary to add sugar and/or sweeteners, also salt to re-create flavour, not good according to Dr John Yudkin in his book Pure, White and Deadly
The opening slide was an article from the Daily Telegraph entitled “The doctor busting today`s food fallacies” – Dr Idrees Mughal.
The following were described as myths: 1) You need a ton of protein to gain muscle, 2) Probiotics will fix gut issues, 3) Intermittent fasting only works because we are eating fewer calories, 4) Seed oils are terrible, 5) To fix obesity all you must do is eat less and move more, 6) White bread is bad for us, 7) Artificial sweeteners are bad for us, and 8) Humans aren`t supposed to drink cow’s milk. Others, namely Professor and Doctor Tim Spector and Dr Chris Van Tulleken have contributed to the great debate about obesity which is now affecting children at a very early age and is spreading throughout the World.
So regarding Dr Idrees Mughal`s list of myths about diet we need to consider the real causes of obesity

Chris Van Tulleken`s statement “Why do we all eat stuff that isn`t food and why we can`t stop?” - he is referring to ultra processed food which is lacking nutritional qualities and is addictive (see list of ingredients alongside!)
