It was a bright but breezy day (26th June) when 17 members arrived at Aldwincle Village Hall for a visit to the rather beautiful village of Wadenhoe – a traditional Northamptonshire stone and thatch village where the houses have roses around the door and hollyhocks growing tall in the gardens. Amongst the properties of interest were the 18th century dovecot, the watermill (and the mill pond and bridge which looked like something Constable would have painted!) and the church – at the top of a steep hill (which a few members reached).

Many thanks to Annie for arranging the visit and providing the refreshments at Aldwincle VH before we set off – together with welcome maps. A stunning part of the county that was new to most of us. Chris Rowe
